Flood in Palestine (State Of)
Since August 2025, Gaza had faced repeated episodes of severe flooding as winter storms brought heavy rain, strong winds, and elevated sea levels driven by high tides and powerful waves. These conditions directly affected flood-prone coastal areas, overwhelming already damaged drainage systems and inundating displacement camps.
Thousands of tents and makeshift shelters were destroyed, and dozens of people were killed. The collapse of critical infrastructure—particularly sewage and water systems—increased the risk of disease outbreaks and exposure. The Gaza Strip, located in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, had already been experiencing an extremely severe humanitarian crisis.
The flooding further affected displaced people living in vulnerable coastal settlements. Many families remained in low-lying, poorly protected areas, struggling to stay dry and safe despite ceasefires and aid efforts, and facing growing losses and hardship.
